Urumbula Garden
The JPSS Urumbula Garden was opened during Reconciliation Week 2014. This garden is at the front of our school and contains plants that have been traditionally used for medicine, food and as tools for local indigenous people. It is an exciting and constantly evolving project. The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden in Port Augusta worked in conjunction with the school to select plants that were culturally appropriate. JPSS ATSI students planted and cultivated these plants with help from the Aboriginal Education team and local volunteers. This has been a popular initiative with students, particularly those who enjoy being outside and connecting with their land and culture.
